About Cefn Tilla Court

Dating back to the 17th Century, its origins date from 1616, Cefn Tilla Court is a Grade II* listed building and sits within 120 acres of beautiful countryside that offers the perfect backdrop for your upcoming celebrations.

During the English Civil War, the court was the headquarters of Thomas Fairfax during the siege of Raglan Castle and the terms of the castle's surrender were signed at the house in 1646. By the early 19th century, the court was derelict. In 1856 it was sold by Crawshay Bailey to the Memorial Committee established to commemorate the life of FitzRoy Somerset, 1st Baron Raglan, British commander during the Crimean War. The house was completely rebuilt by Thomas Henry Wyatt and donated to Lord Raglan's heir, Richard Somerset as a memorial to his father.

The house and title remained in the family until the last Lord Raglan's death in 2010. At that time the house was inherited by Lord Raglan's nephew, Henry Van Moyland, who lived in America.

There were various claims made against the property, but these were eventually dropped leading to the sale of the house by Van Moyland in 2015 to Mr Evans.

Mr Evans has undertaken extensive renovations in an effort to restore the property to its former glory. The house has become his family home, as well as an exclusive wedding venue and a space for corporate events. Several of the outbuildings and cottages onsite have been and are continuing to be renovated to be used as luxury self-catering holiday cottages. Visitors to the house should be suitably impressed by its charm and grandeur for years to come.
