5 ways to have a unique wedding

Your wedding day is special and something you’ll remember for the rest of your life. But it’s also the talking point of your friends and family for the next few weeks. If you want to make your day extra memorable, here are 5 ways to have a unique wedding…

1. Cheese wedding cake

The wedding cake is sacred so bear with us here…

Of course wedding cakes look incredible and taste even better, whether it’s a classic fruit cake or the modern lemon and elderflower sponge. So you’re probably thinking ‘why on earth would I want a cheese wedding cake!?’ Here’s why – if there’s one thing we love more than cake, its cheese!

How about impressing your guests with 5 tiered wheels of cheese stacked up and decorated with herbs and edible flowers? They’ll leave happy and full, and will be the talking point of their conversations for weeks to come.

Of course, you can always opt for cake and cheese.

2. Ditch the hog roast

Yeah it’s good. Really good. But it’s been done a million times over. We’re always seeing amazing evening food ideas – here are some of our favourites:

If you don’t want to go the full hog (see what we did there!), how about Bacon Rolls?

Still want the impressive centrepiece to your evening meal? Then you can’t go far wrong with a huge pan of Paella.

If you’re looking for something fun and different, an outdoor Wood-fired Pizza oven will definitely get your guests talking.

3. Entertain your guests with interesting activities

Kids aren’t the only ones who need entertaining and it sometimes takes a while for guests to find the courage to hit the dancefloor, so get them out of their seats and having fun in other ways.

We never truly grow up, so a great way of getting everyone up and having fun is with a bouncy castle. There are some great companies out there who specifically provide them wedding themed.

If that doesn’t work, then friendly competition will. Bride’s guests vs. Groom’s. The competition could be anything, but we love a sports day – egg and spoon race, three-legged race, sack race… the lot.

At Cefn Tilla, we’ve got loads of activities available so why not treat the groom or bridal party to a spot of clay pigeon shooting during all of the ‘hanging around’ time. You’ll have a reallyunique wedding!

4. Think outside the box with favours

Get creative, make it personal and make it memorable. We’ve seen coasters to chocolate, lip balm to Lego. Let them have something to take home, but give them something to use on the day too.

For amazing photos, get custom sparklers then gather on our lawn for the ultimate night time picture! Just don’t get too close to the dress.

5. Keep the kids entertained and the parents will enjoy themselves more

Hiring professional childcare is the obvious option, but there are so many others you should consider too.

Weddings are just as exciting for children as they are adults. So how about letting them enjoy their day even more by giving them a dedicated area? Beg, steal and borrow the best toys you can find such as ping-pong tables and a Wendy house (still our favourite). Keep them busy with colouring and crafts and you could even dedicate the first 30 minutes of your disco to kid-friendly music.
